Shot to the head, and you’re to blame. You give refs, a bad name.
June 1, 2017 – During a dead ball situation in the NBA finals game 1, referee Derrick Stafford was trying to get the ball over to his fellow referee Dan Crawford. It did not go quite according to plan, however, as Steph Curry happened to be in the way.
The Golden State Warriors would somehow shake off the traumatic situation and go on to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers 113 – 91.
April 23, 2017 – In game 4 of the Boston Celtics – Chicago Bulls matchup, Robin Lopez of Chicago somehow ended up losing his shoe. Jae Crowder tosses his shoes out of bounds perhaps for safety, perhaps to keep Robin out of the game, and at that point Robin decides he has to retaliate with some shenanigans.
Unfortunately for the Bulls, the Celtics ended up winning the game 104 -95 to tie up the series at 2 a piece.
February 19, 2017. During the NBA all star game, Stephen Curry was close to the basket when Giannis Antetokounmpo stormed up to the rim and delivered a serious dunk. Shortly thereafter, Stephen Curry stayed a bit behind while Harden turned the ball over back to the Greek Freak again. Curry, deciding that discretion was the better part of valor, went all out to avoid being on a poster:
As it turns out, the posterizing was inevitable.
Wednesday, January 18, 2017 – The Oklahoma City Thunder visited the Golden State Warriors, and in the third quarter with his team down only three, Russell Westbrook took the inbound pass and slowly moved up the court. However, he neglected a vital part of moving with the ball, taking close to six steps without dribbling before being whistled for a travel.
The Warriors (36-6) went on a huge run to end the third quarter, and ended up beating the Thunder (25-19) 121-100 despite Westbrook getting his 21st triple double.
On Sunday, January 15, 2017 the Chicago Bulls visited the Memphis Grizzlies, and in the third quarter, Robin Lopez of the Bulls was passed the ball as he was cutting to the basket. Unfortunately for him, he was not looking and it hit him right in the face. Fortunately for the Bulls, it bounced right to Taj Gibson who slammed it home. Immediately afterwards, Robin looked towards the scorer’s table and gestured for the assist.
The Bulls (21-21) would end up defeating the Grizzlies (25-18) 108-104.
January 4, 2016 – The Atlanta Hawks visited the Orlando Magic, and in the middle of the fourth quarter, Dennis Schroder was at the line to shoot two free throws. After missing the first one, the ball bounced to Serge Ibaka who then decided to have some words with the ball. Afterwards, Dwight Howard had his own version of a ball talk, perhaps to encourage it to go through the rim on the next shot.
Dwight Howard appears to have gained the upper hand, as Schroder made the second shot. The Atlanta Hawks (19-16) completed the road win over the Orlando Magic (16-21), 111-92.
Earlier today Javale McGee had the second start of his Golden State Warrior career against the New York Knicks and made the most of it. He was on the receiving end of more than a handful of lobs and slammed most of them home.
After one hookup with Klay Thompson where he hammered the ball home, he hustled back to defense right when a timeout was called so that he was substituted out. Not having an opportunity to celebrate with his teammate, he took it upon himself to recreate the slap hands that he felt should have happened:
Javale McGee finished the game with 17 points on 8 of 10 shooting with 10 rebounds and 8 assists in 15 minutes as the Golden State Warriors defeated the New York Knicks 103-90.
