The bigger they are…

Monday October 9, 2017 – The Orlando Magic visited the Dallas Mavericks for a NBA pre-season game, and 39 year old future Hall-of-Famer Dirk Nowitski was backing up to play defense in the first quarter when he appeared to lose his footing:

September 25, 2017 – The Chicago Cubs were visiting the St. Louis Cardinals when Cubs shortstop Addison Russell dove into the stands for a ball. While doing so, he knocked over a fan’s plate of nachos. However, all was not lost as he came back with a replacement set of nachos.

After such a winning move, the Chicago Cubs beat the St. Louis Cardinals 10-2.

Minor Miscalculation

September 16, 2017 – BYU hosted the University of Wisconsin for football in Provo, Utah Saturday, and during the pre-game festivities, paragliders descended into the stadium and landed on the field. Unfortunately, the one of them did not quite line up the descent, and as a result, missed the field.

Wisconsin would end up winning the game 40-6.

A Fumble Too Far

September 9, 2017 – Louisana Tech University, already down by a bunch of points to the Mississippi State Bulldogs, was building a promising drive when they had a second and goal from the 6 yard line. Unfortunately, the center put a little too much mustard on the snap and it went flying over his quarterback. Everyone chased after the loose ball, but was unable to get ahold of it. After an eternity, Cee Jay Powell, a Lousiana Tech freshman wide receiver finally fell on it… back on their own 7 yard line. This ended up being a spectacularly depressing loss of 87 yards.

Mississippi State eventually won the game 57 – 21.

Good hands?

Saturday, September 2, 2017

Most catches in American football are made with the hands, but in this case, due to some quality defense by Drake cornerback Kyrell Newell, legs will do.  South Dakota receiver Alonge Brooks had the ball swatted out of his hands, but luckily for him and the South Dakota Coyotes, it went into the gap between his knees, and he did the rest.

South Dakota went on to crush Drake 77-7.

Taking a shot from a ref

Shot to the head, and you’re to blame. You give refs, a bad name.

June 1, 2017 – During a dead ball situation in the NBA finals game 1, referee Derrick Stafford was trying to get the ball over to his fellow referee Dan Crawford. It did not go quite according to plan, however, as Steph Curry happened to be in the way.

The Golden State Warriors would somehow shake off the traumatic situation and go on to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers 113 – 91.

Helping hands for shoes

April 23, 2017 – In game 4 of the Boston Celtics – Chicago Bulls matchup, Robin Lopez of Chicago somehow ended up losing his shoe. Jae Crowder tosses his shoes out of bounds perhaps for safety, perhaps to keep Robin out of the game, and at that point Robin decides he has to retaliate with some shenanigans.

Unfortunately for the Bulls, the Celtics ended up winning the game 104 -95 to tie up the series at 2 a piece.
